Since 1858, Biscuits from Prato have been baked daily and packaged by hand one by one, in the classic Blu Mattei bag.
Prepared with flour, sugar, free range eggs, almonds and pine nuts, they do not contain preservatives, animal fats or vegetable fats.
The Dark Chocolate Cookies came out of our oven for the first time in 2013, and the Pistachio and Almond ones in 2017; these too are hand-wrapped one by one, originally the first in a red bag and the second in a green bag. Since 2019 the Dark Chocolate variety is packaged in the Blue Mattei bag with a Red label, and the variety with Pistachios and Almonds in the Blue Mattei bag with a Green label.
In fact, in June 2019, the Biscottificio Mattei Blu bags were officially registered and trademarked as a Unique Color; an important and rare award that definitively gives this historic packaging its uniqueness and belonging to the historic biscuit factory.
Now all our Biscuits are packaged with the Blu Mattei bag, with elements of different colors that distinguish the different flavors.
The dough is the same as Prato Biscuits (flour, sugar, eggs raised outdoors), and instead of almonds and pine nuts, fine drops of dark chocolate are added (85% Cocoa), or Pistachios and Almonds.
